Lightning to Work With Who Cares?

The Lancaster Lightning minor league football team has announced a new partnership with local non-profit organization Who Cares?. Starting in January, the Lightning will be assisting Who Cares? with their 'You're Invited!' program.

'You're Invited!' is a new program organized by Who Cares? to offer a little piece of normalcy to the lives of local homeless children. Many of these children have never been able to celebrate their birthdays, and Who Cares? wants to change that. The volunteer organization will be throwing two birthday parties each month for children living at Water Street Rescue Mission and Clare House.

The Lancaster Lightning recognize the value of this program and many of their players will be volunteering their services to help each month with the parties. The Lightning will also help Who Cares? with finding donations of food, party supplies, and gifts for the children.

By combining their resources, Who Cares? and the Lancaster Lightning hope that this program will grow and continue to be a monthly escape for the homeless children living at the two shelters.

Who Cares? appreciates donations of gifts for the children, party supplies, and food. A list of current donation drop-off locations can be found on the Who Cares? Website, which is listed below.

Who Cares? provides a simple, no-pressure way for people to volunteer to help their neighbors in need. When you volunteer through Who Cares?, you have the ability to pick a time that works with your schedule and volunteer in an area that interests you. It is the mission of Who Cares? to create, implement and manage an effective volunteer service program to address the pressing human service and educational needs of individuals in the neighborhoods we serve, while promoting a sense of community and volunteer ethic.
